4th Annual A.R.T. Anti-Racism Tournament | Youth Basketball | African Heritage Month

The 4th Annual A.R.T. (Anti Racism Tournament) brought youth, families, and community members together for a day of learning, sport, culture, and connection during African Heritage Month.

Founded by Chris Johnson, the tournament was created to give back to the community and provide a space where youth can come together through basketball while learning about leadership, culture, and respect.

The day began with a classroom session focused on leadership and community before moving onto the court for basketball skills sessions and games. Youth had the opportunity to play, learn from mentors, and enjoy the energy of the tournament atmosphere.

Participants also experienced African drumming, celebrating culture and heritage through rhythm and music.

Players, families, and volunteers also enjoyed pizza from Domino’s, helping bring the community together throughout the event.

Events like the A.R.T. Anti Racism Tournament continue to create positive spaces where youth can stay active, build confidence, and connect with mentors and community leaders.

Through sport, culture, and community leadership, the tournament highlights the power of basketball to bring people together and inspire change.
